This guide explains how University of Wisconsin–Madison students, faculty, and staff can connect to and troubleshoot university-provided printers effectively. Following these steps will help ensure smooth printing experiences on campus or via VPN connections.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, make sure you are connected to the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus network or via the university VPN to access printer services.

Connecting to University Printers

Follow these steps to install and connect to a university-provided printer:

  1. Access the printer installation resources at https://it.wisc.edu/help/printers.
  2. Select your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.) and download the appropriate printer drivers.
  3. Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers.
  4. During setup, select the correct university printer model or network printer to add to your device.
  5. Set your printing preferences according to your needs (default paper size, color options, etc.).

Troubleshooting Common Printer Issues

If you encounter any issues while printing, use the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Restart the printer and your computer to resolve temporary errors.
